Gen 11:31
Many times we hear Christians saying that God will always give them another chans and that He always will let you try again. I'm sorry to say, but that's not fully biblical!
Sure, he is a forgiving Father who will forgive you when you fail him. But reading the text above we find something else as well.
Terah was called by God to go from Ur to Canaan! God called him to a place approx 875k (540 miles) away. God called him to give him this land and to make him a great people! God called him out on an adventure that would not only affect his own life, but bless all people groups on the earth! God planned to save the world from his offspring. Wow, what a calling!
And Terah obeyed! He started off well! He took his closest family and walked away. He choose the best and safest way by following Euphrates shore. But something happend on the way...
Terah never made it to Canaan. And he never made it to his destiny...
When he reached Haran he got tired. He probably said that they would just take a short break. He said they would rest for a week or two before they continued. But the weeks became months and months years...
Terah keept saying they would continue. First, he just had too....
Terah settled in Haran. He found this to be a good place; he got stuck in his comfort zone...
Terah continued to tell people around him about the great calling and promise God had given him. He keept telling everyone how special he and his family must be. He said that they soon would reach their destiny.
But one day it was too late...
One day Terah died.
All the wonderful and exciting things God had planned for never happend. Because Terah stoped.
Instead God had to call another man, and his name was Abram...
I don't know what God called you specificly to do; but I know that He's counting on you! Maybe you have a hughe talent, or a massive call from Him.
Maybe you even started off good. But in the long run it's not the start that is counted, but the finish...
I just want to say: Don't waste it! Don't believe you have all the time in the world! Don't get stuck in a comfortable place, in your comfort zone. One day it may be too late, and you missed your destiny...
"Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
